| Abstract | ABSTRACT : This study tests the day-of-the-week effect on Kuwait Stock Exchange. The main objective of this study is to investigate whether the mean return of KSE Index is independent of the trading day of the week. It will also question the equality of the mean return of the Index across the trading days of the week (Saturday to Wednesday). Several statistical techniques such as analysis of variance, Mann-Whitney test (non-parameters test) regression, in addition to a descriptive analysis were implemented to analyze and test the day-of-the-week effect. The finding of this study rejects the null hypothesis of the equal mean returns of KSE Index across the days of the week and report the day-of-the-week effect on KSE. Such results have been reported and documented in previous studies. Although the day-of-the-week effect has been reported in this study, it has be found that 1.16% only of mean return variation is explained by the day-of-the-week effect. | |
