The sample consisted of 340 students (138 males, 202 females) selected randomly from the eleventh grade science and art divisions classes enrolled in secondary public schools in Kuwait. Their age average was 16 years and 10 months The study used Sternberg & Wagner Thinking Styles Inventory 1992, Zein Al Abdeen Darweesh Parenting Styles Inventory, and students' achievement total scores at the end of the first semester of the academic year 2007/2008. The study results showed that the most preferred thinking styles of the study sample were: external, legislative, hierarchic, executive, liberal and judicial styles. Whereas, the least preferred thinking styles were ranked in the following order: anarchic, global and internal thinking styles.
