Abstract

Abstract : This study aimed to understand students' attitudes toward learning chemistry in high school and to analyze the correlation between students' attitudes and achievement motivation. The study was applied to a sample of high school students from the Eastern Province of KSA. The test was run on a random sample of 430 students. For this study, two tools were designed. The first was to measure attitude toward learning chemistry, and the second was to measure achievement motivation. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was between 0.80 and 0.88 for the first and between 0.61 and 0.82 for the second, where statistical significance was taken as 0.01 in both cases. This is an indication of stability. The study implied that students' attitudes toward learning chemistry were low-positive, and using the Pearson correlation coefficient, it was found that students' attitudes toward learning were proportional to achievement motivation, with a statistical significance of 0.01.
