| Abstract | ABSTRACT : In the domain of globalization competition become more intense than ever. Banking industry is not by any means an exception. Customer can get same, if not very similar, services from almost every bank. Hence, competitive maneuvers become limited to the quality of the services and the efficiency in rendering them. The purpose of this study was to examine the concept of "Re- engineering" as a tool to improve quality and to enhance the efficiency of banking services in Bahrain. The study attempted to analyze the causality between re-engineering success as dependent variable and some human factors as independent variables. These factors are communication, reward system, teamwork, authority, performance management and training. Primary data were collected through a structured-questions type of questionnaire distributed to senior executive, middle and supervisory . levels of managers in three selected banks in Bahrain. Al-Ahli Commercial Bank (AACB), National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) and Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK). Descriptive statistics were used to measure the central tendency for the independent variables as related to re-engineering success. Co- relation, co-efficient was performed to examine the direction and strength of relationship among the independent variables. The analysis was conducted at two levels; the three banks as an overall and each bank at a time. Findings revealed relationships between re-engineering success and the human factors. However, such relationships vary among variables for all banks and for each bank separately. Co-relation co-efficient revealed moderate to strong positive relationship among human factors. Finally, each bank under investigation showed different level of importance to the human factors of re-engineering success. | |
