Abstract
ABSTRACT: Currently, the major challenge in IoT devices is to reduce the size of data, provide data authentication and encrypt the data. By keeping this view in mind, the current research idea is focused on minimizing data generation by using event based methodology. As As the event based methodology is a technique used for data generation and minimization so the data is minimized at first stage using motion detection sensor. For the purpose of authenti-cation, the most famous technique of Zero Knowledge Proof will be used. IoT devices have a lot of security issues like unreliable accessibility, unauthorized access, encryption failure. To overcome IoT security issues, data encryption is addressed; based on RC6 (Rivest ci-pher 6) encryption technique. This research study proposed case study related to university based on real life data. This will be done by using events introduction method, in which devices are only activated to record data when an event has occurred. To cope with the secu-rity issues, Zero Knowledge Proof is a methodology in which one user can prove to another that the data is valid without providing any extra information about the data. With the help of RC6 algorithm using MATLAB, the unauthorized users will not be able to decrypt the data. Moreover, the proposed research idea is examined in the simulated environment for evaluation. The proposed method is compared with other methods in literature based on throughput, key generation time, average encryption and decryption time which showed that the proposed method is superior over the other methods.
