Abstract
Abstract : This study examines project management techniques in Bahrain's construction industry, with an emphasis on their impact on project success and failure. Finding essential project management techniques, assessing their efficacy, and understanding the difficulties experienced by industry specialists are the main goals. Considering the sector's importance to Bahrain's economic growth, the thesis emphasizes the significance of adhering to globally accepted project management practices. The study uses a quantitative methodology based on an online survey to gather information from a representative sample of engineers, project managers, and construction managers working in Bahrain's construction industry. A thorough literature review forms the basis of the research to identify best practices and current trends in project management. This highlights the existing nonalignment in the field and further justifies the study's objectives. A structured questionnaire is distributed to respondents to collect general information about them, assess the status of construction projects, and gauge their use of project management techniques 108 respondents completed the questionnaire. This constitutes the total sample size used for the analysis. Before data analysis was employed for this study, internal consistency and reliability were checked using Cronbach's Alpha test, and homogeneity was checked using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Data analysis was performed using descriptive methods, followed by the application of best practices. The model, with its interconnected elements, was validated using the Alias Design Structure Matrix. The results show that although many project management techniques are widely used, significant gaps remain, especially in the planning and initiation stages. According to the survey, a startling 30% of projects fail, citing pressing problems including imprecise goals and insufficient funding. Strong stakeholder communication, efficient planning, and competent teams were all identified as critical success factors. Furthermore, ongoing project management training is crucial This research provides valuable insights for theorists, policymakers, and practitioners in project management. It enhances theoretical frameworks by emphasizing the importance of practical training and tailored best practices, while urging policymakers to support initiatives that promote operational efficiency and proactive risk management. For practitioners, the findings underscore the importance of focusing on critical phases, such as initiation and planning, to ensure stakeholder engagement and effective communication, thereby aligning project goals and enhancing overall satisfaction. Together, these implications foster improved project outcomes in the Bahraini construction sector.
