AbstractAbstract : Since Modigliani and Miller have written their irrelevance proposal in 1961, a fierce battle has started between three schools of thoughts and never stopped up to date. And as Bahrain is one of the world's most important financial centers, it is found inappropriate for the country to remain far from such heated financial debate. Therefore this project is carried out in the Bahraini market to explore the most important determinants of the dividend policies of the Bahraini publicly held companies. The result of the study has a striking similarity to the result contained in Lintner's behavioral model. Specifically it has revealed that the managers of the Bahraini publicly held companies believe that the dividend policy affect the value of the firms, and that the said policy is determined by certain determinants.
