| Abstract | Abstract : This study discusses the right of government employees to vote and to stand as candidates in elections as two of the most significant political rights under Bahraini legislation and compares such rights with the Egyptian and French legislation. The study is divided into four chapters preceded by an introduction and a preliminary discussion. In the preliminary section, the researcher discussed the definition of government employees and political rights and freedoms, as well as the importance of public official participation in the electoral process, which can play a prominent role in the management of public affairs in the country. The first chapter discussed the essence and nature of the right to vote and stand as a candidate in elections and concluded that the election is a political right protected by the judiciary. The legislator may amend the conditions for the exercise of the right to vote in a manner that does not aim at an unjustified decrease or total deprivation of its exercise The second chapter dealt with the right of government employees to vote. We concluded that Bahraini legislation differentiates between government civil employees/civil servants and the military. Members of the Bahrain Defense Force, the Public Security Forces, and the National Guard cannot vote or be elected unless they resign or receive special approvals/instructions from a competent authority. In the third chapter, the researcher discussed the right of the government civil employee/civil servant to stand in an election. We found that the right to run for an elected office, such as municipal and local councils, clashes with the principle of working full-time as a civil servant. Therefore, although a civil servant can vote and stand as a candidate in an election, he must resign from his government job if he gets elected Chapter Five deals with the guarantees that secure the rights of government employees to vote and be elected. The researcher concluded that a civil servant elected as a member of parliament or municipal council will be independent and free from government influence due to the enforcement of the principle of segregation of powers. In this regard, the researcher also highlighted the importance of the role of the judiciary in supervising all stages of the election process to protect government employees' right to exercise their political rights, ensure enforcement of the principle of segregation of powers, and enhance the integrity, transparency, and trust in the election process. In conclusion of this study, I presented my most important findings and made several recommendations.
