| Abstract | ABSTRACT : Change is occurring more frequently and rapidly in what is anticipated to be a borderless, free trade world, as claimed by the GENERAL AGREEMENT ON TRADE AND TARIFF (GATT). This fluctuating environment, intense competition, challenges, and rapidly changing technologies are among the major factors that aggravate such changes. Under such pressure, an organization can only react quickly to changing demands if empowerment occurs. To maintain and improve competitiveness, Bahraini organizations are bound to have the capability to respond effectively and promptly to the continuous demands and needs in such a turbulent environment. By empowerment, firms will be able to address such needs. This may necessitate the need for redistribution of organizational power to achieve the objectives and this is achieved only through enabling staff to acquire a greater degree of responsibility and fulfillment in doing what is best for their organization, their customers, and their local community as well. The need for a reengineering process, better educated and well trained workers with different tasks to do in order to challenge the more complicated technologies and intense competition has become inevitable to Bahraini organizations. | |
