| Abstract | Summary : In this chapter, I presented the findings about curriculum enactment in Sarah's classroom context. The descriptive data analysis suggests that Sarah enacted the curriculum as structured events in the forms of stories, songs, direct teaching, and group work activities. In addition, Sarah used the rhythms as a tool to help her students make sense of classroom time and predict what they should do in each segment of the classroom day. Similarly, the data indicated that Sarah established a culture of literacy to help students learn about things, work as a community, and strive for quality in their work. The previous descriptive data about curriculum enactment also indicated that Sarah used her theoretical constructs about curriculum, teaching, and classroom as a "theory of action" to enact the curriculum at the classroom level in three phases: pre-enactment, enactment, and post-enactment However, as Sarah described, there are some "negative" or "discrepant" cases that do not fit into Sarah's theory, such as the lit pick segment. In addition, there are other situations that Sarah viewed as dilemmas, such as her "uncertainty" about her planning and her conflicts about her choices between students' interests and curriculum implementation. | |
