| Abstract | Abstract : This study examines the phenomenon of invoking historical figures in the Gulf women's poetic corpus, considering it a stylistic and aesthetic device employed by contemporary female poets to construct a poetic discourse that responds to existential and social questions from a conscious woman's perspective. This act of invocation is no longer merely decorative or honorary, but rather a powerful expressive tool that reflects the poet's awareness of her history, her stance toward inherited symbols, and her attempt to reproduce them poetically in a way that addresses issues of identity, selfhood, and social transformation. The study aims to analyze the nature, patterns, and implications of this invocation by tracing the presence of invoked figures and classifying them according to their various sources: literary, religious, historical, Sufi, and mythological. It further explores the forms of invocation in terms of pronoun usage, the nature of the relationship between the poet and the invoked figure, and the expressive functions of these references within the poetic text. The study adopts an interpretive analytical approach grounded in gender and cultural criticism, allowing for an exploration of the deeper dimensions of such invocations and the women's visions embedded within them. The findings reveal that Gulf female poets do not invoke historical figures as fixed icons or ready-made symbols, but rather interrogate and reinterpret them, engaging them in dialogue with the present. This reflects an effort to deconstruct dominant patriarchal narratives and reclaim the silenced female voice within grand historical discourses The diversity of invocation modes—from embodiment to contemplative recall, from direct address to symbolic use—demonstrates a high level of critical awareness and a desire to reshape collective consciousness through poetry. Ultimately, the study concludes that this mode of invocation represents a conscious and multifaceted expressive system that transcends aesthetic value to serve epistemological and symbolic functions. It contributes to the formation of a women's poetic discourse that embodies empowerment and redefines the relationship between the feminine self and heritage in light of contemporary realities and questions | |
