| Abstract | Abstract : User experience is a vital aspect of interior design, highlighting the significance of crafting spaces that align with users' needs and preferences (Sharma & Dhanwantri, 2017). However, currently there are few tools available to enhance user satisfaction and functionality in this domain. This research seeks to investigate the advantages of utilizing journey maps as analytical tools in the design process, aiming to cultivate a deeper understanding of users among interior designers. The study examines how user journey maps can improve the understanding of user experience within interior design by exploring the relationships between relevant concepts. A qualitative methodology will be employed, beginning with focused group discussions involving practitioners to gauge their familiarity with user experience design. Additionally, user journey maps developed by final-year interior design students at the University of Bahrain will be analysed. Interviews with four interior design instructors will further assess the benefits of integrating journey maps into the design workflow. The same group of practitioners will also be presented with effective strategies for implementing user journey maps into their practices. By combining these methodologies, the study aims to validate the effectiveness of user journey maps as essential tools for enhancing user satisfaction and functionality in interior design, ultimately benefiting students, educators, and practitioners alike.
