| Abstract | Abstract : This study aims to identify different types of sports crises, their recurrence, impact, and organizational preparedness to address them in sports clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. A questionnaire was compiled and administered to all 143 board members of the various sports clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The questionnaire covers three focal areas: 1. Administrative crises (pertaining to board members, administrative aspect), which were further subdivided into four aspects of concern: the recurrence of the crises, the time span of their occurrence during the sports season, the impact of the crises, and finally, ways of addressing them. 2. Administrative (financial) crises, which were also divided into four secondary areas: the recurrence of the crisis, the time span of its occurrence during the season, its financial impact, and ways of containing it 3- The degree of preparedness for crisis management in the sports clubs of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This focal area contains three secondary points of consideration, namely: Planning, organization, and prior training in crisis management In addition to the questionnaire, the researcher conducted interviews with some board members of sports clubs and analyzed some elements of the basic structure of sports clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The results have shown that administrative and financial crises mostly occur in the middle of the sports season and rarely at the beginning or at the end of the sports season. The results have also revealed that the club's board members prefer to apply healthy but outdated methods while dealing with administrative and financial crises, and a few of them use healthy, advanced methods in dealing with such crises. The findings of the study showed that the majority of sports clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain have been struck by the administrative or financial crises, or both, mentioned above. Such crises have had impacts on the club, its board members, and its reputation. Furthermore, such crises are expected to increase in number and intensity in the future. Nevertheless, the majority of sports clubs in the Kingdom of Bahrain have neither the necessary arrangements plans to handle and contain the crisis nor a proper strategy to deal with crises and provide training in crisis management | |
