| Abstract | Abstract : This study investigates the level of co-parenting compatibility after divorce from one parent's perspective and examines how this co-parenting compatibility relates to the psychological compatibility of children in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It also looks into variations in co-parenting compatibility after divorce among Bahraini families based on different demographic factors. To meet the study's goals, the researcher employed two tools: the Co-Parenting Compatibility After Divorce Scale, which was developed by the researcher, and the Psychological Compatibility Scale for Children, created by Mervat Al-Kuwai (2013). A random sample of 51 parents, including both fathers and mothers, was selected from various regions of Bahrain, while the responding sample for the Psychological Compatibility Scale included 59 children, as some children provided responses through one parent The findings revealed a moderate level of co-parenting compatibility post-divorce, along with a moderate level of psychological compatibility among the children. No statistical evidence was found to support a direct linear correlation between the Co-Parenting Compatibility After Divorce Scale and the Psychological Compatibility Scale for Children, which may be due to the sample size. When comparing the means of both scales, we found that the results were moderate, suggesting, from another statistical perspective, a potential relationship between the level of co-parenting compatibility and the level of psychological compatibility among children. Additionally, the research indicated that the level of conflict prior to divorce was significantly higher than the moderate level of conflict observed after divorce. This reduction may have implications for children's psychological compatibility following divorce, regardless of the co-parenting compatibility level after divorce. The study also highlighted differences in co-parenting compatibility dimensions based on financial status, duration of divorce, number of children, and legal custody In the context of the Psychological Compatibility Scale for Children, there were no notable differences related to the child's gender or age group. However, significant differences emerged in the area of school adjustment, depending on whether the responses came from one parent or both parents. The average score for responses from a single parent was higher in the school adjustment category. The study recommends that relevant governmental and non-governmental entities utilize the findings to enhance parental adjustment after divorce and support children's mental health. It highlights the need for mandatory parental counseling programs before divorce, the development of child-focused coping programs, reconsideration of financial and housing policies affecting divorced families, and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration. For future research, it encourages the use of validated scales, exploration of parental personality traits, financial impacts of divorce, legal custody effects, and broader socio-emotional family dynamics.
