| Abstract | Abstract: The need for enhancing creative thinking skills in Bahraini schools has recently increased, especially at the secondary level. However, such important needs coincide with development in other aspects of life. The Bahraini Ministry of Education has sponsored many educational projects and events toward developing awareness of creativity and teaching creative thinking skills, yet not much has been done to educate the public. Since the Bahraini government wants to prepare Bahraini children for the new century, and since the Arabic language is one of the major means of communication in this society, the need to improve the methods of teaching Arabic and gear it toward creative thinking has become a necessity. Because creative reading stimulates students to think beyond the text and start to create new ideas and solutions, it becomes one of the most beneficial means of obtaining knowledge and educating youngsters. This current study (pre-post control group test design) aimed at determining the effects of some proposed teaching reading strategies on improving creative thinking abilities The subjects, which were divided into an experimental group and a control group, contained female students from the first grade of Isa Town Girls Secondary School. The research hypotheses were sited as follows: 1. There are significant differences between the experimental group and the control group (post-test) in creative abilities, in favor of the experimental group. 2. There are significant differences between the experimental group's performance on the pretest and the post-test in creative thinking abilities, in favor of their post-test, as a result of using the proposed strategies. The Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (verbal test A & B) and self-developed instruments were used to investigate the research hypotheses. Variance, t-test, F-values, and many other related statistical analysis techniques were performed on the data collected. The results of such analysis supported the two hypotheses. Many recommendations were suggested as results of the findings.
