| Abstract | Abstract: The present research deals with the use of supplementary readings in history teaching in the secondary schools of the State of Bahrain. It aims at discovering the effect of these readings on students' achievement and attitude torwards history. The experimantal method was applied for the purpose of the research. Two research groups (experimantal and control) from different secondary schools were randomly chosen for the research experiment which lasted two months. The research also utilized the following tools: a questionnaire designed for history teachers; a pre/post achievement test; and an attitude measurement tool towards history. A number of null hypotheses were tested with regard to the topic, the problem and the aims of the research. The main finding of the research is that supplementary readings have effects on students' achievement than on their attitude towards history. In the light of the results of the research, a member of recommandations have been introduced to help better use of supplementary readings in history teaching. In addition, a number of suggested research works have also been recommended. | |
